Microsoft 365 renewal: the last day to say no

If your billing account is a Microsoft Customer Agreement (the newer type), you only get a refund by cancelling within seven days of the start or renewal; after that you can switch off recurring billing and keep the service until the term ends. Older Microsoft Online Subscription Agreement accounts get a prorated credit or refund when they cancel.

“within seven days after the start or renewal”

“If you have an annual subscription and are paying monthly, you're charged each month for the remainder of your subscription term.”

  4. Missed it? On a Microsoft Customer Agreement account, the seven-day refund window after renewal is your last easy exit.

Questions people ask

Can I get my money back after seven days?

It depends on your billing account type, shown in your Microsoft 365 admin centre. On the newer Microsoft Customer Agreement type the refund window is seven days; after that you can stop it renewing but not recoup the term. On the older Microsoft Online Subscription Agreement type, Microsoft gives a prorated credit or refund when you cancel.

I pay monthly on an annual plan. Can I stop paying?

On a Microsoft Customer Agreement account, Microsoft says you are charged each month for the rest of the term.

Does the July price rise apply to me?

Microsoft says the pricing updates take effect on 1 July 2026 and that existing customers remain on current pricing until renewal. Business Basic goes from $6 to $7 and Business Standard from $12.50 to $14 per user per month (US list prices; yours depend on your country and reseller). Business Premium is listed with no change.
